10. Draft Poster Design

Above is the draft for my final poster design. My poster involves a red party cup that is filled with beer which is intended to represent a swimming pool at the back of a house party. I’ve used this as its a general stereotype seen in movies and music videos that swimming pools are always at American house parties. In addition to this, beer is a prominent aspect of these and therefore I chose to combine the two. The final design is likely to include some final assets, such as a cigarette which I intend to design to create the illusion that it’s a straw.

Furthermore, I’ve chose to go with a broken guitar neck as a diving board just over the edge of the cup/swimming pool. In the final design I will probably increase the size of this as I feel it is too thin and doesn’t really fit well on the poster. Also I have written where I want the text for the artist and the album title to be but this could change depending on the location of the extra assets. In addition to all this, I’m going to briefly experiment with the background by creating a multi-shade design with shapes, however I’m not sure if this will fit the rest of the design or the subject.

My next steps will be to add the bands logo or tex to the design, along with the album title in bold to highlight the purpose of the poster. Once this is done, I will add the last assets and add the new background to see how it fits with the other colours and items. If this doesn’t work, I will keep the orange background and the poster will be final. Additionally, if possible I may add a date which the album would hypothetically be released. This all is subject to how everything comes together but I aim to follow my draft as close as possible.
