Here I will detail some problems and issues I had during the process of creating my final assets.
Substance Painter
One major problem I had was substance painter was unable to load any of my assets in order for me to texture them. Due to this, my textures were limited and had to be created using Photoshop or the tools inside of Maya LT. I tried many different options and searched on multiple forums for any solutions but ultimately had to change my method to prevent be from falling behind. Furthermore the 7 day trial of substance painter limited me and therefore I had less time to learn it and finish all my assets in time.
Rendering
After multiple weeks of searching for how to render my assets effectively in Maya, I finally found that Maya LT does not offer render options and therefore the best way to display your assets in their final, illuminated form is to use the ‘Playblast’ display. This was not a problem as it was easy to understand and position my assets to look professional, however it did limit the quality of my images to showcase in the previous posts.
Texturing
A lot of the time, Maya LT would prevent me from texturing my assets and adding a new material to change the colour for example. This was fixed with a quick restart of the program, however did obviously create an impact on time. I do think this is a problem with the program and not necessarily my hardware as the device I am using is very new and more than capable.
Blank Faces
Finally, I had some problems with some of the faces on my objects where they would be inverted and show a blank face. This didn’t cause too much of an issue since it only happened at the start, but for some reason wouldn’t invert back with many different solutions. In the end, I had to just recreate the asset in a new file which luckily, the issue did not occur again.
