I have tried to make an initial sketch of how I would like my poster to look like, also showing off the conceptual aspect I’ve attempted to go for. I wanted to try a pop punk style poster as if it was a tour or album poster from the 2000’s and based the product around a college party which is often seen in music videos or spoke about in the songs. For this I have tried to make a swimming pool out of a red party cup as they are common features at stereotypical parties and then used a broken guitar neck almost as a diving board for the swimming pool.
I’ve tried to re-create a scene you would see in a pop punk music video or even a movie scene from a college party which is why I’ve chosen the red party cup as the pool since its a very iconic piece you would see in these. In addition to this, the guitar neck been broken reminds me of when bands would smash up their guitars at the end of a show which I though I could then incorporate that into a diving board to match the scene.
I intend to use bold colours such as orange, red and possibly a shade of blue for the main idea and then simply use black for the text as it will stand out well on an orange background for example. These are also a selection of colours I have seen on recent and past pop punk albums, as it really appeals to the fan bases who like colourful clothing such as tie dye t-shirts.
