Accessories and Poses

In this post I will detail and show what accessories I intend to include for my 3D character and what poses he would use, in conjunction with this accessories.

Accessories

With the killer aspect of my character in mind, there is two accessories he will need most, a mask and a weapon. Both of these do very different things but are crucial for my characters lifestyle and intentions. Firstly I will talk about the mask;

The mask my character will use will be mainly used to hide his appearance and protect his identity. In addition to this the mask is used as an intimidation technique, to scare anyone in his path. This is also another reason I chose red as the main colour for the mask as its intimidating but also matches the face of a killer. Although the mask is removable when not in practice, my character will be wearing it most of the time which will be seen in the final screenshots after production.

The other accessory, being the weapon will be used for killing, damaging and injuring anyone or anything in his path. My initial intentions are to create a pitchfork style weapon which incorporates an antler style spike selection which would be used for piercing his enemies. I’d like to incorporate an aspect of the deer into the weapon as it would add further depth to the weapon and give it a meaning, as if the deer are getting their own revenge. Since my character is strong, a melee weapon is a great choice for him as he will be able to use it with force and deal more damage then others.

Below is some initial drawings of the mask as well as the weapon, which may be altered in the final stages but can be used as a blueprint during production.

Poses

A 3D character will always have a pose or series of actions depending on the intended use. For example if the character was being modelled for use in a fighting scene, a still pose of the character getting ready to punch can be shown.

Below is three key poses I have drawn to show how my character would stand and act in certain circumstances.

I have chosen a fighting stance as my character would be in many altercations due to his intentions. This specific stance can be interpreted in two main ways, one in which he is ready to punch someone, and the other being a position he would be in while holding his weapon in the ground (or someones body).

Another pose I have gone with is the proud stance, which features my character holding an item in one hand and standing with a wide body. This pose would most likely be used for him holding a severed head, or maybe even a mask to scare and intimidate others. Another option could be that he is holding an item or an image, to show someone who can direct him to where he needs to be. This would fall into his more moral traits.

Finally, I have chosen to use a ‘cut-throat’ pose, which would most likely be used as a taunt. This involves the character imitating cutting his own throat, to infer to the challenger that he is going to kill them. Once again this is more of an aggressive but subtle pose which would come before a series of actions- such as fighting.
