Prototypes

I began making prototype images and other aspects to demonstrate how I intend to structure/design this story. Since these are just initial plans and assets, these may change due to software limitations, further findings during development as well as general decision changes.

Below is a demonstration of how the first scene would play out. After the introduction and initial dialogue, the user would be greeted with their first interactive choice, which is choosing their house inside the project. For this I have used some copyright free images of the style of house I want to include in the story. For the final product, I will possibly attempt to design some basic houses to replace these or use similar images to these providing I have the correct permission.

The street names that I have given to these addresses (excluding numbers and extensions) are disguised as anagrams for sinister quotes. Although unlikely, anyone who investigates these street names will see that something is off about the story.

Using Adobe XD and the prototype images, I created a simple prototype of how I’d like the story to be presented. This allowed me to physically test the product and test different methods of completing the story visually. In the below video I present a visual walkthrough of the first scene. This involves what would be a series of videos before being presented with the first interactive choice of picking the users desired house. They are then greeted with another choice of whether or not to meet their new neighbours which depending on choice, directs them to a different screen.

Adobe XD allowed me to create rough designs of each scene and frame and create ways to navigate using the choice text. Below is a screenshot of the art board which shows the connections. In the final product, if I used Adobe XD, I would need to ensure every connection is correctly connected to the respective video or choice.

In addition, I also decided to design some promotional posters that would be used as advertisement for the project.
